ffmpeg-installer is a php script designed for server admin to download compile and install lame, ffmpeg, and ffmpeg-php. The installation process in linux is alien to many users, ffmpeg-installer couldn't be easier to use and is completely automated, it takes about 10 minutes to complete, maybe faster than that and installs everything you need to convert videos with ffmpeg from the command line and from php. Updated recently to include lame encoder, without it flv files and any others that use mp3 as the default sound codec will play with no sound output.
